Authentic film and television dialogue

True English teaches English through cinema. Lessons are built around real scenes from films and television, and the language inside them is the language native speakers actually use — including, at times, strong words, mature themes, violence, and morally complex situations.

Why we keep the original language

Sanitised dialogue does not teach how English really sounds. We preserve the original delivery — intonation, rhythm, hesitation, slang, and reductions — because that is the level our students aim for. Studying a scene is not endorsing it.

Minimum age

True English is for learners aged 16 and over. Age confirmation is required at signup and is part of our Terms of Service.

Educational use of copyrighted clips

Film and television excerpts are used for the limited purpose of language instruction, with commentary, transcription, and pedagogical framing. If you are a rights holder and have a concern, see our DMCA / Copyright Contact page.
